The Climbs

Turn inland from the coast and you are climbing. Here are some of the major climbs, each accessible within a day’s riding from Beaulieu-sur-mer or Nice. Spoilt for choice!

This is not an exhaustive list – there are literally dozens more cols within striking distance – but just a selection to give you a flavour of what you can expect. The summary provides length of climb and the height gain. Click on a climb for more detail.

All but one of the climbs listed below have a height gain between 500m and 1,500m. There are a number of climbs with a height gain of less than 500m for those that want them.

We can load the bikes onto the minibus and get even further afield. The opportunities become virtually without limit, but here are some of the most iconic climbs of the Southern Alps that we can do as part of a day trip, or multi-day trip staying in local hotels.

Most of these climbs offer over 1000m of height gain, up to 1650m.
